TRANSLATE CHILDREN'S

BOOKS FROM HOME

The Asia Foundation is looking for inspired volunteers who can translate children’s books. If you are bilingual with access to an internet connection and a smartphone, tablet or laptop then you are able to begin supporting children in your community.

Translating books for the Let’s Read digital library is easy. Simply follow the steps below:

  1. Visit www.LetsReadAsia.org on your smart phone, tablet, or computer. Select “translator sign in” in the top right corner of the library.

  2. Sign in using a google account (if you don’t have a google account, you can create one for free).

  3. Once you are signed in, set your language preference using the drop down language menu. Find a book from the selection below by clicking on it or searching for it.

  4. Scroll all the way down to the bottom and add a new translation by selecting the language you want to translate the book from and the language you want to translate the book into. Some books may have already been translated. Look at the very bottom of the page to see if someone else has already started working on that translation. If the translation you want to work on is already listed at the bottom of the page, you will “join” this translation instead of starting a new one. If you find a book that doesn’t have the option to translate it into the language you are working on, that means we have already published a translation or someone is working on it and you can move on to another book.

  5. Enter and save a translation for every page of the book.

  6. When you have saved a translation for every page of the book, submit your translations using the button on the top of the page. Choose your next book!

Your translation, along with the translations of other volunteers will be reviewed by language experts and published on the library soon!
